's worth of rainfall, a december's worth of rainfall, in san francisco, in just five days. we averaged 4.0" in december and we received 4.08." other areas napa 10" of rain, kentfield nearly 10." 7.5" for danville. not completely rain-free. it's not going to be a flood producer. it's not going to be anything compared to what we had over the weekend but there is some rain being tracked now on hi- def doppler that will arrive tomorrow. perfect timin. the national weather service talked about atmospheric rivers today. we call them the pineapple express storms. they are going to set up four different monitoring sites in california one of them in bodega bay the first one that opened up today. they are going to measure low level winds, relative humidity and soil moisture and here's the benefit to you. >> we have announced the development of a new system for measuring atmosphere ever rivers as they hit california. the injured to help science and forecast these storms like we just saw the last couple of days. >> and the benefit for ought home especially if you live near a river betting flood fore

no issues with visibility as a ticket to our james lick freeway camera. in san francisco we are seeing the clouds start to increase. a cold start to the morning with in most locations in the '40's. into the afternoon mainly north bay showers. we have a slight chance around the san francisco bay. as we head to the evening hours. the rain chance to start to pick up and grow more intense overnight. here is a look at the temperatures we have forties' and '50s 49 out the door for concord pleasanton. 50 in oakland. there afternoon highs plenty of low 60s. another cold day ground the bay area. 634 oakland. 62 for san mateo and hayward. here is the wet weather we are tracking on satellite and radar you can see most of the moisture sitting over northern california. this is slow moving. it will start to stall out and not be as intense as it bay area. you can see on futurecast 4:09 a.m. later to day light rain picking up from palo. 2:00 p.m. today it will stick north of the golden gate. 2:00 a.m. the overnight hours of light rain it looks like it picks up intensity tomorrow morning and will sprea

5 reporter cate caugiran is in san francisco where power in the subway is back on at this hour. good morning. >> reporter: that's good news for morning commuters. again there's basically sorted out a bit of the mess. all muni lines are back on track. muni told us that this was caused by a power outage they had last night. the electrical problem happened as commuters were headed home. there was a blown transformer on van ness. >> it was damaged from water. >> computers were down in the subway. we waited and they never tell you how long it's going to be. >> reporter: the whole restoration is ahead of schedule. originally the n and j lines were supposed to be delayed this morning but when we spoke to a muni spokesman on the phone they say crews restored power about 1:30 this morning and find the electrical short in order to get all lines back and running before the big commute. now, they also had a lot more on their hands last night at church and market. muni dealt with another major problem. a woman in a wheelchair was hit by the f market line and taken to the hospital with life- threa

for this growhouse. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> and to the latest on san francisco muni. it's back up and running after a transformer problem shut down everything for hours. ktvu aalex savidge live at the -- ktvu's alex savidge is live at the van ness station. what do you know? >> reporter: well, right here on market street, i did an interview with the mta spokesperson, he came out here and updated the situation. he says computers who use subway systems can expect a smooth right. all of the issues has been resolved. he tells me all of their trains are running on their regular schedules. let me show you the scene inside the van ness station. all of the trains again moving this morning. there was a shutdown, though, last night. it was about 6:00 when the entire subway system stopped because of a blown transformer at the van ness station. crews had to work throughout the night to fix the problem. and then finally at 1:30 this morning, they had everybody up and running again. with all of the subways out of service. you can imagine it was a major hassle for tens of thousands of commuters.
